Fellow Members,

It is a great privilege to be writing to you as Club Captain of Greystones Rugby Football Club andI feel very honoured to be chosen to lead the team for the 2014/15 season.I started out my rugby journey as an Under 10inDr Hickey Park on a Sunday morning so now to be Club Captain is a proud occasion for me.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Club President for the 2014/15 season, Adrian Goodrich. Also, to our generous sponsors this season, their support is greatly appreciated right throughout the Club. I would also like to welcome our new coaches, Kevin Lewis and Warren O’Kelly, who I know will bring great value to the Club. It’s great to see the return of Hendrik Kruger and first team manager Paul Lennon, who make a huge contribution also, along with all coaches and management throughout. We have a fantastic set up at the Club, with top coaches, management and facilities. There are quality new players who have joined the Club this season that I would also like to welcome and it’s great to see an abundance of talented Under 20s coming up, which only strengthens the whole squad further. I know both the players and I are looking forward to a successful and enjoyable year and perhaps a few pints along the way!

This summer saw the opening of the new gym, which you may know is named in honour of the late Jo O’Connor, who was a tremendous ambassador for the Club, playing a particularly important role with the underage players. Knowing many of the current senior players who were involved in the underage setup, myself included, I can only imagine it was a tougher job than she made it look! The gym adds to the already wonderful facilities we have at our disposal and is one which will serve the Club and members for many years to come.

Of course, the team is only one aspect of the Greystones RFC community. I would like to thank the members, supporters and all those whocontribute their time and more to the Club and teams involved throughoutGreystonesRFC. Your support is greatly appreciated.

I look forward to meeting you over the course of the season.
