Fellow Members,

I am humbled to be chosen as this year’s Captain of Greystones Rugby Football Club. To be tasked with not only leading this talented group of players, but to also follow in the footsteps of the men before me (with special mention to Barry Holmes my Captain of the last three years), fills me with great excitement for the challenges that lie before me and the team.

Challenges that will be met front-on, with the support of the highly distinguished and experienced coaching staff headed by Reggie Corrigan. We also welcome Hendrik Kruger back to the Club.
With the disappointment of last season, a season of near misses, behind us we are all looking forward to putting Greystones RFC back where we as Club members must feel it belongs and a position that reflects the great traditions of our Club.

I would like to thank Steve Cranley and Peter Butler for their service to the Club and the team and welcome Paul Lennon and Gary Nolan to the vacated roles and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.

Working with the youth section of the Club, both players and coaches, as well as the up and coming u’20s, I know that the future of this fine rugby club is in safe hands. Building on this is the success of our underage girls’ team and the formation of our Club’s first ladies’ team. I hope that we, as a 1st XV, can give this future a brand of rugby that excites them and builds a passion for the Club that will lead to them to playing in the green and white for many years to come.
I would like congratulate Brian O’Neill on his appointment as President for the forthcoming season and to thank our sponsors, whose support does not go unnoticed by the playing group and I would ask that it is not be missed by you and that every effort is taken in supporting them.

Finally, in times when players are playing for the fun of the game and the afters, I feel that with the hard working team under Eddie Lonergan and the facilities in the clubhouse, we can ensure a good time is had by both teams and supporters before and after our matches and I look forward to meeting you there for a beer!
