When I first put on the green and white jersey for Greystones, at no point did I ever think I would play for Greystones Senior Team - let alone Captain it. Now I'm about to embark on my fourth term and without a doubt it has been an honour each year. Given it is the Jubilee year, 1937 - 2012, it makes me realise how privileged I am to be part of Greystones Rugby Club.
With optimism and prospects at a high level, we look forward to the exciting challenge ahead. Hard work, commitment and pride in being a Senior Team member will achieve the result, with enjoyment in an injury free and successful year. The input by our coaching staff, ably led by head coach Reggie Corrigan and backs coach Niall Woods, will once again be a great contribution to the team.
I hope the team that we have built up over previous seasons realises its potential and challenges for a victorious and successful 2012/13 season.
Of course the team is one thing but the support from you the members and the sponsors has
been phenomenal. This is greatly appreciated, as we all know how difficult it is to dedicate time and finances these days.
I'd like to welcome Hubie Gallagher as he takes over the role of President for the forthcoming season. I was fortunate enough to meet Hubie early on in the year at the U15s final and after speaking to Hubie and watching the match, not only does the season look good... but the future even better.
