Greystones RFC 44. Suttonians 12 

Played: Saturday 8th January 2011

Venue: Dr. Hickey Park

After the long lay off over Christmas the Greystones RFC v Suttonians RFC match that was postponed due to the pre-Christmas bad weather was played at Dr Hickey Park last Saturday. The day was bright and sunny but very cold and windy, a wind that was going to make conditions very difficult for the kickers in securing points. 

Greystones opened very strongly and had their first try of the day on the board within the first four minutes and went on to score four tries in the first half. Stones opened up the second half with a try by Ronan Carroll in the first three minutes of the kick-off and Stones added three more tries on the second half. Overall an excellent team performance by Greystones with eight tries in total scored touched down by six players

 Commenting after the match Reggie Corrigan Head Coach for Greystones RFC said,

 "I’m delighted with the result, the lads have worked very hard so far this season in order to put Greystones back up into the higher divisions where we belong. We trained hard over the Christmas period even with the bad weather and I think yesterday’s convincing result was down to that. There is still a long way to go and  a lot of work to do , in order to get promotion from this league but we are definitely on the right track and the players are determined to make it happen.

I would also like to thank the supporters on behalf of the squad, it is one of the squads ambitions to really drive the community spirit within the club, and I think this is evident from the turnouts we are getting to the games. There is certainly a great buzz throughout the club at the moment and the home support is making Dr.Hickey park a real fortress again.”
