Ulster Bank League Division 3
Seapoint 15 Greystones 13
Played: 2nd April 2011
Venue: Kilbogget Park
This top of the table clash between the two local sides was set to be a tense affair and did not disappoint in that regard with Seapoint coming out on top by two points after the eighty minutes. This is the first time the two neighbours have played against each other at this level and there was great support for both teams to add to the atmosphere.
Seapoint opened the scoring with a penalty after 10 minutes and with the play kept very tight it was not until 23 minutes that Greystones levelled the score at three all with a penalty from Andrew Kealy.
Greystones eventually found a way through after Dylan Fawsitt made a break up the line to bring play into the Seapoint 22, after working through the phases Ross Spillane scored a try under the posts duly converted by Andrew Kealy. Seapoint response however came a few minutes later when they pushed over for a try despite excellent defending by Greystones. The half-time score reflected the closeness of the game with Stones leading by a narrow 10 points to 8.

After the re-start Seapoint held most of the possession and deprived Greystones any real opportunities to move the ball and create scoring chances. Stones did make a breakthrough in the last quarter of the match when Andrew Kealy once again delivered three points from a penalty kick. Seapoint came back again within a few minutes to score a try under the posts and with the conversion to follow took the lead by 15 points to 13. This was to be the final score of the game with Stones narrowly missing a penalty in the last ten minutes. Congratulations to Seapoint for an excellent first season in the Ulster Bank League gaining promotion and giving themselves a real chance at the title.
Greystones welcome Navan to Dr. Hickey Park on Saturday 16th April in the last match of the season. This is a must win for Stones to gain promotion to Division 2. This is guaranteed to be a great day out and we urge all to come along and cheer Stones to victory and join in the end of season celebrations at the club
