Sunday 6th November: Old Belvedere (home) Green Team Playing conditions were ideal when the Greystones Green team took on Old Belvedere on a beautiful sunny morning. The well supported game started at a great pace with both teams testing each other out. Greystones opened the scoring when Sean O’Brien touched down following a break by Conor Lacy. Not to be outdone, Old Belvedere struck back immediately when their right wing outpaced the Greystones defence and ran half the length of the pitch to score an excellent try in the corner. Greystones upped the pressure and scored two tries in quick succession – one an intercept by the ever alert Sean O’Brien and the other by Mick O’Gara following sustained pressure from the Greystones pack. The industry of the Greystones team started to take its toll, resulting in five second half tries. The first of these came from Rory Wilson who crashed over following a period of pressure from the forwards. This was followed by Andrew Neale who finished off a flowing move by the backs. Greystones continued to pressurise Old Belvedere and this resulted in tries from hooker Jonathan Landers and the hard working Mick O’Gara who scored two excellent tries in quick succession. This tough and fast flowing game was played in an excellent spirit. Both teams showed good commitment, and demonstrated they have an excellent platform upon which to develop their skills, shape and fitness.

White Team Ground Conditions were ideal as Greystones met Old Belvedere in this U12 Metro fixture on a sunny Sunday morning. The boys from both teams utilised these ideal conditions to produce some excellent rugby. Greystones started the first half playing up the slope. They began to build momentum from the start and after some good rucking and movement of the ball took them upfield, Darragh Rochford broke on the blind side to score the game’s opening try. Greystones then collected the ball from the restart and the backs moved the ball forward. From the ensuing maul 10 metres from the line, Liam Marshall burst through the Belvedere defence to score. Belvedere then responded with a fine try by moving the ball quickly followed by the winger beating the cover defence to score. Greystones response was not long in coming and following some fine interplay between backs and forwards Evan Downey crashed over from a ruck close to the Line. Greystones next try came after a series of driving mauls up the left hand touch line after which the ball was moved wide and Darragh Rochford crossed the line. Just before half time Liam Marshall added another picking from the base of a ruck and driving over to leave the score 5-1 at the break.Old Belvedere began the second half brightly and deservedly crossed the Greystones line after moving the ball from a quick ruck in the Greystones half. Greystones direct style of play again paid dividends, when after the backs moved the ball upfield, Darragh Rochford went blindside following a ruck and touched down in the corner. Greystones then moved the ball at pace across the backline in a series of moves resulting in Jeremy O’Donovan outpacing the defence to score in the corner. Greystones then moved the ball wide after winning the ball from an opposition line out , resulting in Darragh Rochford breaking the line to score again. Jeremy O’Donovan then added another try beating his man on the outside and speeding into the corner to score. Old Belvedere then worked the ball up the left hand wing with some good passing to score in the corner. Greystones then added another try from Callum McNulty who broke through the defence after supporting a fine break by Adam Kelly. Jeremy O’Donovan added the game’s final score outsprinting the cover defence to touch down in the corner.

Dark Green Team Old Belvedere kicked off in some style to dominate the early exchanges at Dr Hickey Park. The Belvo backline opened the scoring after just 2 minutes of play when attacking out wide and followed this up by two further tries in quick succession to take a 3 nil lead. The Greystones backline regrouped to defend stoutly for the remainder of the half and prevent a very skillful Belvo team from extending their lead. Greystones managed to pull a try back before the break when Darren Magee finished off a great drive by the forwards to score a try.Greystones began the second half strongly and took the game to Belvo earning a second try when Joe Phelan scored an opportunist try off a disrupted Belvo scrum. The remainder of the second half turned out to be very entertaining with both sides playing excellent rugby. Greystones scored their third try when Richard Slevin crossed after a good run and Alex McAllister added a fourth when he caught the kick off and ran nearly the length of the pitch. Belvo scored again soon after to draw the scores level. Stones then took the lead when another spirited drive by the forwards saw Ben Webster pick up and crash over. Belvo then equalized again from a well worked back move. With one minute remaining Harry Begley scored a try to put Stones ahead but it was not to be. Belvo were rewarded for their attacking efforts with a try with the last play of the game to earn a well deserved draw.
