MATCH REPORT
On a cold but dry night in Oak Park our J1s had an excellent 8-16 win away to a skilful Carlow J1s side.
The win was very much a strong team effort with the GRFC forwards always in command and the backs solid in defence . Alan O’Toole at 8 was outstanding in the pack and was a constant menace in the loose and defence.
In the backs Scrumhalf Frank Jones had an excellent game with his accurate passing to Outhalf Ross Spillane and Frank was also very strong in the tackle. In excellent kicking and running form No.10 Ross Spillane contributed 11 of the 16pts tally from some long distance penalties.
Winger Killian Keogh scored his try in the corner which was secured from a loose ball after a rampant Bobby Clancy broke through the Carlow defence. The centre pairing of Niall McCarthy and Jeff Mackey worked well in attack and defence. Great to see Jeff Mackey back after a long injury layoff. Full back Alan Power attacked the Carlow line at every opportunity , helped with some solid fielding from winger Tom Parker.
Junior 1s are now in 4th spot in the Metro League with 23 points and are in good shape to take on UCD next Monday night Nov 30th in Dr.Hickey Park, kick off at 8pm, underlights.

MATCH REPORT
Greystones J1s had a very solid four try win over Navan RFC on Friday night the 6th of November in Navan. Both forwards and Backs combined well on the night to secure a well deserved bonus point win.
Greystones first try came from a scrum just outside the Navan 25. A break from Danny Crean, supported by back row colleagues Burschi Wojnar and James Beery followed by the rest of a hungry pack enabled Bobby Clancy to break two tackles to score beside the uprights. Ross Spillane converted the try to put Greystones on the board by 7 points.
The GRFC J1s second try was again earned through the hard work by the pack. A well worked clean lineout in the Navan 25 was driven forward by the pack resulting in Hooker Kevin Moes getting the unconverted touchdown. The Ref blew for half time with Greystones leading 12.0
In the early part of the second half Winger Tom Parker crossed the try line from an impressive series of passes from a pacy backline. From a difficult angle Out half Ross Spillane converted to put Greystones into a comfortable 19pt lead.
The bonus point try was down to a very skillful grubber by 10 Ross Spillane just inside the Navan 25. The pack won a line out on the left side of the pitch and a quick transfer from scrumhalf Frank Jones let Ross show his kicking skill with a grubber which winger Eoin Dempsey gathered and won the race to touch down in the Navan right hand corner.
Dave McKechnie at fullback was outstanding each time he received the ball. At all times Dave was a major threat to the opposition with wonderful jinking runs. Conor McNaughton played very well both in attack and defence. Macker is improving in each game having just returned to the Club after some time abroad. Macker’s centre partner Conor Clery ,who is just back from injury , put in a fine performance at 12.
Props , James Allen and Bobby Clancy were replaced by Mark Finnerty and Alan Lewis at half time who made their presence felt from the start of the second half in loose and set play.
Well done Lads.
