Dylan Fawsitt USA Eagles

Dylan Fawsitt

Greystones may shortly be adding to their list of Internationals.

Dylan Fawsitt, who joined Greystones as a 7 year old in 1997 and played with Greystones for 15 years up to 2012 (the last 3 years on the 1st Team in the All Ireland League), has been called up to the USA Squad (the Eagles) for their match against Georgia next Saturday in Tbilisi.

Dylan, who won both Junior and Senior Schools Cup medals with Blackrock College, always had ambitions to play professional rugby. In order to achieve this he joined St. Marys in 2012, they being in Division 1 of the All Ireland League. Dylan excelled as hooker with St Marys for 2 seasons but unfortunately the break never came for him to advance further in Ireland.

In typical Dylan fashion, where he never accepted “no” as an answer, he made the very brave decision to go to the US in 2014, with the intention being to obtain residency after 3 years and to play for the Eagles in the 2019 World Cup. Those who knew Dylan never doubted but that he may well achieve his goal.

Dylan attended Life University in Atlanta and obtained a Masters in Sport/Health Science. He moved to New York where he plays for the Old Blues Club and coaches both Murrough and Fordham Universities. His 3 year residency permit came through in early September this year and Dylan has wasted no time in getting into the Eagles set up. He is hoping to be at least on the bench this Saturday and obtaining his first cap. Even if that does not happen it can only be a matter of time for him to achieve his goal.

Dylan is a tremendous role model for any young person with ambition to “follow their dream”, and we wish him the very best this Saturday and his future with the Eagles and shall be following his career closely.
