The Paul McNaughton Pavilion

Naming Ceremony
Saturday 11th November 2023, 11:30am

On behalf of the executive committee of Greystones RFC I am delighted to share that our club pavilion is to be dedicated in memory of possibly one the greatest sportsmen to represent our club, Paul McNaughton.

Paul’s achievements require little introduction, capped 15 times for Ireland, he served as Leinster team Manager and Ireland team manager from 2008 to 2011 which included the Grand Slam of 2009 with Declan Kidney as head coach. Paul also served as Chairman of European Rugby and was inducted into the Leinster Rugby Hall of Fame in 2018.

For Greystones Paul served as Trustee, Captain (1975/6 and 1977/8) Senior Coach, President (2004/5) and so many other voluntary roles, he epitomized all that is good about rugby and was a dedicated supporter of and leader in our Club for almost 50 years.

There will be an official naming of the Pavilion with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque this Saturday Morning at 11:30 am at a brief ceremony attended by Paul’s wife Jean and Family along special guests.

This will be followed by our Pre-match lunch ahead of the AIL fixture against Barnhall with guest speakers including former Ireland Coach Declan Kidney.

Members are invited to attend the naming ceremony on Saturday morning from 11:30am and limited places remain for the pre-match lunch.
