Galway Corinthians 17 - 45 Greystones
Corinthian Park
Saturday 15th October KO 2:30pm

The first team secured a hugely impressive bonus point win away to Galway Corinthians to leave them joint top with three wins from three as they head into a break this weekend.

Played in awful conditions that made ball handling difficult the foundations for this win were laid by the forwards who impressed straight from the kick off. Conor Pearse, Jack Dooley and Mick Doyle looked like they were relishing the conditions as they pounded the Corinthians pack backwards all afternoon.

The hosts were first on the scoreboard completely against the run of play when they turned a Greystones scoring opportunity into an early deficit when centre Cathal Forde who along with Fullback Oran McNulty is part of the Connacht Senior squad, picked off an intercept deep inside his 22 to score under the posts.
The Greystones pack responded in determined fashion with the award of a penalty try from a five meter scrum less than ten minutes later.
Wing Tommy New finished another period of forward dominance when collecting from Mick Doyle to run in for a try shortly after Corinthians had regained the lead with a try of their own to level the scores at half time.

With the wind in his back Killian Marmion bossed the second half placing weighted kicks into the corners to keep our hosts pinned in their own half. Killian ghosted past the defence within five minutes of the restart to give Greystones the lead with our third try and extended the advantage on the scoreboard with a brace of long range penalties. Rob Byrne set up field position with a brilliant turnover and from a lineout ball a couple of phases later latched on the back of the maul to ground for the bonus point try.
Mick Doyle added the try his overall play deserved when man of the match Dave Baker was held up short of the line following a sniping run, Doyle in support crashed over from a couple of meters out. Matt O'Brien rounded out the tries when he was first to react to a spilled ball by the Corinthians winger, kicking ahead and winning the foot race to the line.

Next up at Dr Hickey Park is the only other side with an unbeaten record so far, Belfast Harlequins on Saturday week for what may prove to be a pivotal match.
